I’ve just spent three days on a painting of New Wolverton in 1850, or thereabouts. I will probably need tomorrow morning to finish it. The job has been time consuming because there has been so much thinking required to imagine what it might have looked like. There are only four buildings that survive from that period – St George’s Church, the Vicarage, the school on Creed Street and the old Market Hall on Glyn Square – the last two have changed a lot.
Anyway, I’ll finish the first effort tomorrow and then send it off to a knowledgeable friend for a critical appraisal. Then I’ll publish
